millionaires and charity donations

Posted by michael on April 17, 2012

There is a lot of fuss about charity donations by millionaires.

The facts are that these millionaires are using these ‘charitable’ donations to significantly reduce the amount of tax that they are paying.

The charities are gaining money that they would not otherwise have but the people of the UK are losing out because the amount of tax being collected is reduced.

It must be cheaper to collect the full tax due to these millionaires and pay a percentage out to the charities!

At the moment we, the public, are all paying those donations because we have to pay more tax!

I don’t think that it is right that charities are complaining about UK millionaires being forced to pay full taxation.

Mostly everyone else in the UK has to pay what is due without any fancy book keeping to reduce the amount due!

Yes the charities gain BUT we all lose – except these millionaires who gain more .

Cameron is right to walk away from the Euro zone

Posted by michael on December 12, 2011

Cameron did the right for one reason and one reason only.

The Euro zone (not the EU itself) wanted to finance itself by taxing the UK financial industry!!! We are not in the Euro zone. It is inconceivable that this should be allowed to happen.

The UK needs to tax the UK financial industry for the benefit of the UK!!

The Euro zone is a major disaster waiting to happen. It is a stupid idea for so many diverse nations to have a single currency – it just cannot work anywhere except in the imaginations of politicians who want to benefit from the power (and money) that such an organisation would give them!

I find it sad that the Libdems have lost the plot so completely that they would give away the inevitable tax on the UK financial industry and not be bothered about the need for this money to help the UK economy!!!

The Lib Dems have a strange idea of what is in the best interests of the United Kingdom!

Labour complaining about extra taxes

Posted by michael on January 4, 2011

I have just seen Labour’s Alan Johnson on tv going on about how the Conservatives shouldn’t be raising extra taxes. I find it so cynical that he can criticise the Conservatives when they are trying to fix the complete mess that Labour made of the economy in their 13 years of power!
If the Labour cabinet know so much about solving the UK’s economic problems then why did they allow such a mess to occur in the first place?
Labour inherited a sound economy from the Conservatives. It was referred to at the time as a ‘golden inheritance’. They even continued with the Conservative policies for a few years!
Then they started spending and incurring more and more debt for us all to pay off!
The best thing that the Labour shadow ministers can do for the country is to stay very quiet while they read and understand basic books on economics!!!

fuss over child benefit changes

Posted by michael on October 6, 2010

I think that it is perfectly acceptable to cut child benefit from a family when one parent earns over 44K, regardless of the earnings of the other parent.
And so what if that means that two incomes of £43K still get the benefit!!
How many families actually fit in that category?
We want simple rules for benefits and taxes. This is simple and income can be easily verified through the tax office.
The media fuss over this seems to be more the work of news reporters and commentators attempting to attack the Conservative party.
They do not seem too bothered over the almost bankrupt state of the UK economy following years of a Labour government!

Brown and Labour have wrecked the UK economy

Posted by michael on April 24, 2010

The polls are moving in the right direction for Cameron. Still time to get a majority over Labour.

People must be beginning to recognise that Brown and New Labour have made such a mess of the UK economy that it would be foolish to expect them to able to fix the problems that have cause.

After all, the only thing that Brown and New Labour have proved so far is that they can take the Golden Inheritance from the last Conservative government and turn it into the biggest financial mess the UK has had!!

And Gordon and the cabinet did this all on their own, without the help of anyone one else!

the air travel crisis

Posted by michael on April 20, 2010

Where is the leadership of this government in such a time of crisis?

Oh yes, locked away working out how to deal with the live debate in order to retain power for themselves.  Surely this is a national emergency with serious ramifications for UK citizens and businesses throughout the UK.

Yet our government are putting their own interests before the country they are supposed to be serving!

New taxes to fund the NHS care of the elderly

Posted by michael on March 30, 2010

We have paid our taxes for all of our lives. This has included elements of care for the elderly in care homes!
How many people’s pensions would have been enough to keep them in their old age? That was before Brown decimated pension values by heavily taxing them!
So lets have the death tax to provide care for the elderly.
Another tax on individuals.
Labour don’t seem to have any solutions that do not involve taxing us more heavily!
This current debate is not a sign of planning for the future etc. but it is proof of the profligacy of New Labour in government.
Not only have they almost bankrupted the UK they would seem to have spent all the money paid by the UK workers for their care when they are elderly!

Labour ‘concealing UK economy data’

Posted by michael on March 29, 2010

Labour have all the facts and figures of the UK economy. They know which departments of government can be cut and they know the cost savings!
Yet they won’t share that with the other parties!

They are benefiting themselves before the needs of the UK population. As far as I am concerned this is a treasonable act!
But it won’t benefit New Labour that much! They have had the economic facts and figures for over thirteen years now. But they still put us into a massively damaging recession!

Labour used the budget for their own benefit!

Posted by michael on March 24, 2010

Well, it didn’t take long for the budget figures to start to unravel!!!!!  The Stamp Duty increase for £1m homes will not pay for first-time buyers’ tax holiday!

This was just a political speech even though the UK is desperate for some real, effective policies to sort out the mess following 14 years of brown, darling and blair!

Labour put their own interests before the needs of the UK. That is enough of a reason for them to be chucked out of office!

Only the worst dictatorships can treat their people with such indifference!!!

Posted by michael on March 18, 2010

Our government plans massive fines of a £1000 for people who simply make a mistake of having the wrong rubbish in the wrong bin!
This is an appalling move by this government whose job is too ensure a fair and equitable society with an emphasis on helping those who are not that well off!!!
How can any elected government propose to treat people so badly?
Most people simply do not have £1000 or anything like it in order to pay these fines. It would absolutely ruin them. They could easily end up losing everything once bailiffs and the courts got involved.
This government knows that the most likely people to make such mistakes are the lower paid, the pensioners  and the more vulnerable members of our society.
How can a family who have perhaps only £80 a week for all their food bills, travel, clothes etc. even begin to pay off such a fine. In such families even a £50 fine is crippling.
Yet a banker can pay a £1000 from the petty cash!!! New Labour have lost touch with the concept of an equitable society. It would seem that the Labour Government members now see themselves as ‘upper class’ and have lost all desire for an equitable society provided they get massive salaries for themselves, loads of perks, and own a number of houses!
After 14 years of New Labour, the UK is close to bankruptcy and the average person in the UK is suffering financially through lost jobs, many have lost their mortgages, most have no savings, most are looking forward to a difficult few years due to the failure of the economy.
Only the worst dictatorships can get away with treating their people with such indifference!!!
