Welsh Secretary Peter Hain has said ‘Labour must expose the Tories‘ and ‘they had been given an easy ride by everybody‘.
Of course they have had an easy ride! Labour have been so appalling in government over the last 12 years that anyone, even the Lib Dems, look very, very good compared to Gordon Brown and New Labour!
Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have taken us to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. There does not seem to have been any grounds for these wars. Now, of course, we are under continual threat by the people whom we attacked first!
If we hadn’t been part of the invasion of Iraq and then participated in a war against the Afghan people then we would not have spent a fortune in war materials and dealing with our injured soldiers! Nor would we need all this enhanced security and be continually defending ourselves from attacks by terrorists!
Oh I nearly forgot! Gordon Brown was chancellor and then prime minister and completely failed to regulate the financial industry and the banking industry. He appears to have completely missed the fact that our country was at risk from financial meltdown over the years before the meltdown actually happened!
I really don’t understand how anyone could expect the person who put the UK finances in such dire straits to be capable of getting us out of trouble. And it is looking as though other countries are coming out of recession whilst we look forward to many years of high taxes, cuts in services and huge debts!
My message to the Labour party conference is ‘be loyal to your leader and stick with him despite what he has put us through’. That we we can get rid of all of you at the next election!

The reason why we are under a continual threat of being bombed and having passenger jets blown up is that Blair, Brown and Bush went to war against Iraq and Afghanistan.
Gordon Brown is claiming that our troops are fighting in Afghanistan in order to stop the threat of terrorism in the UK.
He is right! But his actions in the first place are the reason why we now have to deal with this threat against us. But the consequences of going to war against any country is that the people of that country will fight back!
What does Gordon Brown think that victory in the war in Afghanistan means. I don’t remember ever hearing him define what he thinks that beating the taliban actually means.
I have heard Brown saying that his intention is to train the Afghan government troops to carry on the war against the taliban themselves. But this is not going to stop the attacks against the UK and UK interests around the world. It simply gets our soldiers out of Afghanistan.
Getting peace for the UK and the USA means that all extremists, mostly Islamic, are prepared to stop bombing us at home and abroad.
It is possible that there is no way of getting peace in the war against terrorism. Brown, Blair and Bush have opened Pandora’s box. We cannot put the lid back on.
I think that the actions of these three leaders have cursed the world for a very long time. They will not go down in history in any other terms!

If I went to a neighbour’s house and beat up one of the kids, then can I really justify getting a group of my friends together and going back to the house and beating up everybody there – just to stop them from coming after me?
Gordon Brown and Tony Blair are the reason why we are now under continuous threat of attack!
Gordon Brown cannot justify our attacks on Afghanistan, but he is desperate to avoid getting the blame he deserves from our invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our revered prime minister has made a surprise visit to Afghanistan today.
What he has had to say is not that surprising for him, but it really shows how good he is in catching the mood of the people!
Brown said that getting another 50,000 Afghan troops trained by the end of the year would enable them to “take more responsibility for their own affairs”. I don’t know how many they have trained or are in the process of training, but to get that many Afghan soldiers trained in four months would seem to need many more of our soldiers to train them!
I am glad that Brown has announced that new equipment, e.g. more armoured vehicles, will be made available. Two questions:
- When will they be available?
- How armoured are these vehicles?
If they are more heavily armoured than the vehicles currently in use by our soldiers then it will be an admission that the current vehicles do not have sufficient armour!

One of the major reasons that the war in Afghanistan is going so badly is that Gordon Brown and New Labour are doing it ‘on the cheap’. They have clearly not provided the appropriate safety equipment to our troops. Brown has said a number of times ‘they have enough helicopters’ and then adds ‘we are sending more’. But if they have enough helicopters then they don’t need any more, it would be a waste of money sending more! So do the troops have enough helicopters or don’t they??

Have our soldiers in Afghanistan properly equipped? The debate continues with Labour apparantly, according the Mail, trying to discredit the Army Geneneral Sir Richard Dannalt.
There would seem to be an argument amongst at least some of the military chiefs and the government regarding the levels of equipment supplied to our troops in Afghanistan.

So do the troops have enough helicopters or don’t they?? The answer seems to depend upon whom one asks!

So the Iraq enquiry may last into 2011. Does that surprise me? NO!
Gordon Brown was the chancellor whilst the Labour government under Blair was pushing the country to go to war in Iraq. From memory, Brown stayed very quiet on the subject of going to war. He kept out of the public view and I don’t remember him giving any statements supporting going to war.
Blair gave a number of justifications for going to war. They were all very weak, as far as I was concerned, and if they were now given as an excuse to going to war then I believe the people in the UK would not accept such weak justifications for war!
I believe, it’s my view folks!, that Blair saw himself as some sort of world saviour and ‘freeing’ Iraq from Saddam was part of some vision of greatness that he had. Remember that Blair had taken our soldiers to war in other countries before Iraq!
I would guess that the last thing Brown wants now in the build up to the next election is for the people of the UK to see that the justification for the Iraq war was almost non-existant. I don’t actually believe that Saddam ever had any weapons that could threaten the UK. The ’40 minutes to being bombed’ was never anything that could have been done by Iraq.
The fact that a high school paper that had been on the internet for quite a while, was then claimed as the ‘intelligence’ that exposed what Saddam was up to, was just a con trick on the British people!
Remember when Blair had tanks at Heathrow and around London? Why were they there? In my view it was simply to scare the British public into accepting his claims that we had to go to war!
The result of Blair’s actions? The UK is now threatened by Islamic terrorists. We have to have extra security in place at all times in our country. The actions of New Labour under Blair were, in my view, the reason why this has happened.
It’s my view that Gordon Brown cannot afford a really open and full inquiry. He could not afford to have the enquiry results before the next election!

I feel that I need to ask this question because, in my view, what this government says about our soldiers is not backed up by what they do!
Following the debacle with helicoptors and the Prime Minister seeming to overide the military leaders on whether or not there are sufficient helicoptors in the battle field, we now have the Ministry of Defence trying to significantly reduce the compensation awards to injured soldiers!
In my view this Labour government have an appalling attitude towards our soldiers. It is quite shameful that charities, such as Hope for Heroes need to raise money for our injured soldiers.
The arguments about helicoptors and body armour are symptomatic of this government’s attitude. How can a prime minister override senior military leaders and say that they are wrong and that he was right about the need for helicoptors!
It is quite disgraceful that compensation levels for our military personal are well below that of civilian awards.
The fact that Brown has recently doubled the maximum lump sum payment to £570,000 for the most severely injured soldiers, in addition to providing an index-linked monthly income for life, actually condemns him and his party for their attitude to compensating soldiers with less severe injuries; for example those who are just blinded, or just lose limbs or are just left with debilitating injuries for life!
Our injured soldiers should not suffer because our government appears to have almost bankrupted the UK. Just because we have huge, huge debts to pay off over the next 30 years is not an excuse to refuse to care for our injured soldiers properly!
