It is shameful that Milliband is not commenting on the potential fuel strike.
I think it is because he cannot dare oppose them because they own the Labour party!
It really does show the need for all political parties to be totally independent with regard to funding.
The trade Unions supply most of Labours funding and as a consequence Milliband cannot put the interests of the country before the interests of the Trade Unionists!
He can pay lip service towards his position as an independent political party but that is all!

Here we go again! The Trade Unions are being greedy again. Most people in the UK are suffering from the financial situation and the unions threaten to damage the country if they don’t get the pay increases they want!!! It is pure GREED. Labour complain about the bankers but say nothing about the Unions and their selfish greed. At least the bankers are not holding the country to ransom!!! It emphasises even more the need to separate the Labour party from the Trade Unions. We cannot allow any longer the situation where the Labour party is owned by the Trade Unions. The Labour party recognise the problem – after all they want to reduce the influence of the business owners on the Conservative party. So it is totally logical that the same thing happens with the links between the Labour party and the unions.

The Health service will die if we continue spending vast amounts of money on it.
Of course the UK economy will also collapse and the IMF will have to come in (as they did before to a Labour government who couldn’t live within the countries finances).
If we do not manage our spending then the UK economy will resemble the Greece economy and the impact on everyone in the UK would be huge!
In that situation the NHS would be forced to operate on a significantly reduce budget!! We have to cut the costs of the NHS and make the necessary changes so that the UK can afford to pay for it.
It does not mean that we will have a worse NHS! We just have to make it more efficient and cost the taxpayers less. Of course this is a concept that Labour does not understand!!

The more people cry out for extra taxes on wealth and want to ‘soak the rich’ then the more people with money will move their assets abroad and the LESS money will be received in tax! It is natural human nature to want to keep their earnings for themselves. Very few of us are willing to pay tax on our earnings but we all have to do it. Even people on low incomes can cheat the nation of taxes by not declaring all their earnings. How many of us do ‘cash in hand’ work? Or accept some benefit instead of wages to avoid paying tax? Part of this whole problem is coming from the extreme left who are campaigning for ‘fairness’ when they would, if they got into power, act like every other extreme left government in the world by taking all the money and benefits of wealth for themselves and keeping the bulk of the population in poverty!

I don’t really have a problem with the amount of payments and bonuses people receive for doing their job.
The shareholders are the ones who approve such salaries and bonuses.
If people want to object then buy shares and turn up and vote!
That is the right thing to do in a democracy. If people are NOT in a democracy and complain about the leaders salary they would probably get jailed or shot! – our system is better!
But what is really important and really fair, is that all salaries and bonus payments are subject to tax in the UK without any tax saving schemes (legal or otherwise) being used to minimise the tax being paid!
Ordinary workers cannot take advantage of these schemes and big company bosses should not be allowed to either!
And those who complain about these fat cat salaries and benefits, just remember that some of the trade union leaders are doing just the same as the bankers!

Having just heard a summary of the RBS debts, and how they got into that position in the first place, I would actually want to encourage those people who are obviously working very hard to stop the bank from going bust.
The RBS debt alone is apparently twice the amount owed by Greece and, yes, a lot of the debt is owed by Greece so we won’t get that back!
If we pay peanuts we will get monkeys, and I know that monkeys may well have done a better job if they were running the bank at the time of the boom, but now we need people who can do the job properly and professionally for the sake of all of us!
If the people running RBS at the moment can fix it then we will all benefit and it will be worth the money we have to pay them to do the job properly.
Perhaps we would all feel better about this crisis if those Labour shadow ministers who created this awful mess in the first place had their own pensions and salaries cut to pay towards the financial crisis most of us are suffering from!

Cameron did the right for one reason and one reason only.
The Euro zone (not the EU itself) wanted to finance itself by taxing the UK financial industry!!! We are not in the Euro zone. It is inconceivable that this should be allowed to happen.
The UK needs to tax the UK financial industry for the benefit of the UK!!
The Euro zone is a major disaster waiting to happen. It is a stupid idea for so many diverse nations to have a single currency – it just cannot work anywhere except in the imaginations of politicians who want to benefit from the power (and money) that such an organisation would give them!
I find it sad that the Libdems have lost the plot so completely that they would give away the inevitable tax on the UK financial industry and not be bothered about the need for this money to help the UK economy!!!
The Lib Dems have a strange idea of what is in the best interests of the United Kingdom!

So Cameron has not committed the UK to paying billions in order to keep the Euro zone from collapsing into obscurity! Much of the media in the UK has portrayed this as some sort of political disaster!
But the UK is not a member of the Euro zone.
Why on earth is it a problem that the UK is not giving £70 million (estimates vary) to the Eurozone to keep it going!!
It seems to me that the UK press simply reports the negative and potential problems of any story because this sort of news is more dramatic and sells mores papers!
Cameron has done the right thing. I think that Labour, judging from their actions whilst in power, would have given the Euro zone anything they asked for!

Trade Unionists are selfish and greedy people.
The trade unions own the Labour party! It was Labour that destroyed the UK economy and put us all in a mess.
Yet the trade unions members (those that are taking industrial action) are too selfish to suffer the consequences of Labour’s incompetence in government!
They want more money and bigger pensions when the country cannot afford to pay them.
Perhaps we should link people’s pensions and pay to the way that they vote at a general election!!

It doesn’t seem to me that it really matters if senior News International employees and owners actually knew the details of phone hacking.
They may or may not have demanded that no details were given to them, which would allow them to say that they did not know what was going on.
The real point, in my view, is that they are just as culpable if they knew and encouraged phone hacking as they would be if they allowed staff to keep them in the dark about phone hacking!
They must have read the stories in their own newspapers and, if they were doing their job properly, they must have wondered where these stories were coming from!
Surely they would at the very least want to know who the successful reporters who had obtained these news scoops were in order to congratulate them!
Perhaps they did not even bother to read their own newspapers!
In my view the fact that they appear to have kept a Chinese wall between themselves and their reporters seriously damages their claims to not know that something was wrong in the organisation!
