Labour or New Labour, UK political party

It is interesting to see all these anti-cameron/conservative posts on the various newspaper forums.
The comments tend not to be at all constructive, simply slagging off cameron or clegg or the conservatives in general.
These people all have short memories – it was the Labour government that so messed up our economy that the UK needs to cut costs which means some public services need to be reduced.
The coalition government is not cutting services for fun! It has to be done to avoid the same fate as Ireland suffered and Portugal has now fallen into.
Being taken over by the IMF has a dramatic affect on the public services on the country. The UK has avoided this disaster so far.
Remember the IMF taking over a failed UK economy before? That was a Labour government – they seem to make a habit of almost bankrupting UK economies!

Balls says that there is an alternative. He is right. The UK could go bust and then we would have the IMF running our economy.
Balls and Milliband say that we can keep spending money on services. But that means more and more borrowing!
That was how Labour got us into such a mess in the first place.
Labour are NOT in power. They can say what they want because their views will not be put to the test!
What they are saying is disingenuous because they could NOT keep borrowing money if they were in power.

It is very cynical of Milliband to take part in the public demonstrations against cuts which are only necessary because of the total mess made by the last Labour government of which he was a member!
The ‘too fast, too soon’ mantra he repeats actually shows a lack of understanding of how bad the UK economy was left in by Labour.
Labour, New or otherwise, has no answer to the charges that they have severely damaged our lives, our jobs, our NHS, our pensions and retirements, etc.
The current generation of teenagers will not have the same work prospects as previous generations.
The list of bad consequences of the Blair/Brown governments is long!
Yet Milliband is out on the streets campaigning about the necessary steps being taken by the coalition to get the UK economy back on track. Very cynical because he would be doing mostly the same steps as the coalition if he was in power!

The more we find out about the appalling (in my view) Labour government of the last 13 years, the more debt is revealed that we are now having to pay for.
Did anybody in the last government stand up against this lemming-like drive by Blair and Brown to just spend, spend and spend public money regardless of the debt being built up for future generations?
No wonder student loans have to be increase! No wonder we are having to cut public services!
These cuts are not the fault of the current government. They are having to be done because of the actions of the last Labour government.
I cannot imagine why anyone would ever trust a Labour government again! (especially when the current opposition consists mostly of the same people who made such a mess of our economy!)

Labour broke ALL of its election promises to the people of the UK with its inept and incompetent management of the UK economy under Brown.
The dreams and plans of so many people and families in our country went down the plughole with our economy!
Higher costs, lower incomes, damaged lives – all the legacy of the New Labour term in power.
Don’t blame those who are having to repair the damage that was done by the last government.

All those against the Conservative government are still pushing this line that Clegg is ‘dishonest’ and breaks his pledges.
But it is blatantly obvious to everyone, except those with a separate agenda, that Clegg could NOT expect the Conservatives to adopt all the LibDem policies.
The Libdems are lucky to get ANY of their policies adopted – they could not get into power on their own!
But note that the leaders of these protests were at first all carrying socialist and trade union banners.
These are the people who started the protest and they are simply trying to attack the Conservative government by damaging the coalition.
Many of those well-intended students are politically naive and have been taken advantage of by the socialists.
Put the blame for this chaos where it really belongs, that is on the trade unions and Labour.

Our Union leaders sicken me. They have been the paymasters of the Labour government that has brought the UK to the brink of bankruptcy, and caused us all the financial problems that we have now!
Will they take responsibility for their role in the failed government that has brought such financial problems upon us?
The answer is NO!
They are so blinkered that they want all the jobs kept , all the services maintained and all the wages paid as though there were no problems with the economy.
And, of course, they want their salaries paid, together with all the benefits they get.
What self-centered people these union leaders are!

Listening to Alistair Darling one would not realise that he had been the Chancellor of the Exchequer for a Labour government that brought the UK economy to its knees, leaving us all with massive debts for a generation!
Instead he talks as though knows what the current government should be doing!
I know what his record as Chancellor was. Spending money that the UK did not have! Borrowing more and more money to keep going!
They blamed the ‘global’ recession and ignored the fact that the UK suffered badly from the recession because Labour changed the way that the financial industry was regulated. The controls that would have prevented so much damage to the UK economy were no longer in place!
But my main criticism of the Brown/Darling Labour government is that they just kept borrowing money to keep the economy going.
It was clearly more important to them that they stayed in power even if it meant that the people of the UK were saddled with debts for the next twenty years!
They kept themselves in power at the expense of us all.
Subsequently I am not interested in the opinions of Darling, Brown or any of the Labour ministers on what the Conservatives and Lib Dems are doing!
In fact it would concern me if Brown or Darling agreed with the way the ConLib coalition were working to fix the UK economy from the consequences of 13 years of New Labour government!

I would like to see an official investigation into what Brown, Darling and Labour were telling us about the UK economy.
The UK economy is in a very poor state yet if one had believed the last Labour government then everything was really OK. Brown emphasised his ‘prudence’ in dealing with the economy.
Yet we now find that the debts are more than anyone imaged, and the UK growth figures have been exaggerated.
Although Labour lost many seats, their share of the vote was higher than expected.
I do wonder how many people were misled by Labour emphasising that prudent Brown has the economy in control!! I know of some people who voted for Labour because Brown was seen as more competent to look after the economy.
Of course these people now know that Brown did not have the economy under control. They now know how much in debt Labour have plunged the UK into.
As far as I am concerned there should be very few people who will ever be able to trust a Labour government again!

There can no longer be any doubt that the New Labour government of Brown and Blair has been the worst government that the UK has had in modern times.
Governments are supposed to serve the people, but New Labour do not seem to have considered the needs of the people at all!!
Almost everything they have done whilst in power is about them. Even though the UK had run out of money because of the ruinous policies of New Labour, government ministers still went on a spending spree after they knew that they were going to be thrown out of government!
How could any minister sanction spending sprees at the end of their term in government when they knew how bad the debt situation was.
I would like to see an investigation into what happened in the last few months of the New Labour government. One reason why this is necessary is that several of these Labour ministers are trying to elected as the new Labour leader. We should know now whether they are fit and competent people to potentially be in government again!
