It is being said that Blair has returned to help Gordon out.

The man who took us into several wars on very dubious, if not misleading, grounds, and we are still in Afghanistan taking causalities.

So how will Blair help Brown? He is just visiting, I wouldn’t have thought that Blair was going to give up all that money he was earning! He might give encouragement to a few wavering Labour supporters, but nothing has changed regarding the total mess that Brown, and Blair and Labour have made of the UK economy whilst in power.

Do we believe Tony Blair now when he tells us stuff? I don’t. Not since he told us that Iraq could bomb us in 40 minutes!

Blair and Brown – the team that removed the controls over the banks and allowed them to take the risks that led to the credit crunch and the bank failures.

All in all, the presence of Blair will remind us of so much negative stuff about Labour being in power and wars and debt and the near collapse of the UK economy, etc., that most people will not vote for Gordon!

Brown has announced a £30 billion railway construction!

Is this government just plain daft or are they deliberately announcing policies that it is impossible for the UK to afford for many years?

If Labour hadn’t almost bankrupted the UK over their term in office then this would be seen to be a good thing.

But we simply cannot afford it now Brown and Labour have lost control of the economy. We have many years of increased taxes and reduced services just to clear the debts!

There will be many people losing their jobs as a result of the cuts in services and the need to reduce government expenditure across the board.

We have difficult times ahead thanks to Gordon Brown. It will be a long time before the UK recovers fully! This railway would be a good thing for the UK if it could be afforded. But we cannot afford it and the UK debt level means that we cannot afford very much at all.

One of the worst things about this authoritarian government we have in the UK is that they cannot bring in laws without emphasising the punishment factor for those who don’t obey.

Recycling organic waste should be something that most people will do, and most people will be pleased to do it.

Instead of a debate on the good reasons for doing this, we have all been ordered to do this , or else!!! This gets peoples backs up.

The natural response to being ordered to do this is to tell Brown where to go!!! New Labour are an elected government. Yet they treat the people as the unelected governments in China, North Korea and other dictatorships around the world do.

Naturally Labour are desperate to show a class war with the Conservatives helping their rich friends and New Labour helping their poor, lower paid supporters.

The poor, lower paid have of course been the focus of the the last 12 years of New Labour in government?

Actually NO! Labour have failed to look after the lower paid. They have failed to support their union friends.

Living standards for the poor are worse now than 12 years ago.

Child poverty, despite the money spent on it, is as bad as it ever was.

Education standards are lower in state schools!

New Labour like their millionaire friends, to have (several) expensive houses, to be photographed with important people, to jump when the USA tells them to!

New Labour have no right to claim that they care for the poor. The traditional left-wing Labour MPs appear to have been sidelined!

Blair and Brown and many of their ministers would appear to be only interested in living the high life! Now the chickens are steadily coming home to roost and New Labour are beginning to understand that they have isolated themselves from almost all areas of society.

An example of Brown and Labour putting themselves before the country is the refusal of this government to stand down now and have an election.

The UK is in desperate straits. The finances are shot. The debts are huge and will take years to pay back. Public Services are being cut. Decisions are being taken by a government whose focus is on surviving the next six months.

How can that be good for the UK? We need decisive action and long term decision making. Whilst New Labour hang on to power looking for ways to survive, they are putting the interests of the UK after the interests of the country!

I am not sure how much we can help! We certainly cannot keep giving away the taxpayers money to other people. We are not rich enough to keep doing this.

I would suggest that Zambia is better placed financially to help fund the global warming activities!

Any money that Mr Brown pledges is adding to our debt levels. What right has Brown got to do this? He is making himself look important whilst putting us all deeper into debt.

I sometimes wonder if he really understands the mess that the UK is in. Or is he more like those people who get themselves deep in debt and cannot cope with the idea of failure and are really in denial of the whole situation.

UK is not prepared for demand for electricity over the next 10 years. Not supposed to burn fossil fuels, many older power stations being decommissioned, nuclear stations late being delivered!

There is a potential disaster heading our way over the next 10 years.

There has been a lot of talk recently about an energy ‘gap’ around 2016. What that means to the ordinary person is that there will be shortages of electricity at peak periods.

Why? Because the investment is not in place for our increasing demand for electricity to be met.

A contract was very recently agreed for four new, latest generation nuclear power stations. All very good but at least three years too late! The first station is due to be operating in 2018. That is if everything goes well and the planning permissions don’t spend years in the courts being granted!

Another aggravating factor is that a number of UK coal and oil power stations are due to be decommissioned by the end of 2015.

New fossil fuel power stations (mostly coal) are needed but global warming and climate change concerns means that they should only be operating with carbon capture technology – which isn’t available yet!

Note that a number of fossil fuel power stations are needed by 2015 just to stand still, ie to replace old stations going out of service .

Renewable energy sources are promising. Wind farms are producing electricity now, and more are due to be built. But wind farms only operate when there is wind! The fossil fuel and nuclear stations can be turned down when energy from renewable sources is available, but the fossil fuel and nuclear stations will have to be able to meet the peak demand for electricity on their own!

Businesses and private homes can do a lot by using electricity efficiently and avoiding heat loss through insulation etc but the real problem is in generating electricity efficiently.

The government has the job to ensure that the lights do not go out. At this moment of time it would seem that they are failing in their responsibilities!

We should have a national debate on the scandal of local councils being able to use monetary fines to effectively enslave people to do as they are told.

There hasn’t even been a vote in Parliament for these rules which will have such an impact on our lives.

Perhaps we are seeing why we need our MPs to be focused on all these changes that are rapidly being foisted on us without our consent! They are worth five times their current salaries if they are able to stop some of the abuses that are being used to control us now.

New Labour sneak through too many law changes that seriously impact our lives without a national debate, and more importantly, without a vote.

Yes we need to bring in legislation to cover waste disposal, recycling, climate change etc.

But what is happening at the moment under this government is that our society is becoming like Iraq, North Korea and other countries where the government totally dominates the population through fear.

Please don’t tell me that £5000 fines under the fly tipping legislation is not using fear to control the people!!

It is an absolute disgrace that fly tipping laws are applied to the regular household bin collections. This is not what should happen in a free society. But Blair and Brown have shown over the years that we are not in a free, democratic society!

The White Paper outlining New Labour plans for provision of UK energy and plans for cutting emissions by 2020 have been released.

In essence there is nothing in these plans regarding electricity provision that would cause major political differences.

The announcement for the four new generation nuclear power stations has already been made. A new fossil fuel power station has already been given the go-ahead with the expectation that a working system to capture all hazardous emissions will be developed. So there will be more fossil fuel power stations! Of course there will be problems with storing this hazardous waste, but my personal view is that this is a minor issue compared to failing to provide power to the UK population!

What would seem to be the most crass decision imaginable is to fail to support the only UK company building wind turbines whilst announcing 4000 new wind turbines will be built (offshore and onshore). The result is that these orders will go to European companies and the jobs will be for people who do not live in the UK!

New Labour want to find 400,000 “green jobs” in the UK to help get out of the recession. What better way to support this UK company (which is apparantly going to close) and developing it into a national organisation to turn the UK green by 2020?
