there is a clue to my ‘disgust’ as you put it, in your link.
It talks about the EU being a partner for the US.
But the UK did not have to give up it’s sovereignty and it’s government in order to be a partner with the EU for the Americans! The Lisbon Treaty is not needed for the European block to deal with the USA.
This is nothing but naked political power grabbing by a few leaders within Europe for personal ambition!!
But the UK position is very different. We were promised a referendum on accepting the Lisbon Treaty. It is now irrelevant about how that vote would have come out. Our leadership lied to us about the vote and cheated us out of a chance to vote. This is a betrayal of the people of the UK.
Brown will be remembered in history for two things. The first is that he is probably the most incompetent leader the UK has ever had! The second is that he lied to the people and betrayed the people and denied them democracy in the choice of joining the Lisbon Treaty.

Although I understand there were pluses and minuses discussed in the ratification debate, I want to congratulate my European friends and say, chins up! It is difficult indeed to get unanimity among so many governments. I think it shows strength in Europe.
