Irish EU treaty vote
Posted by michael on October 2, 2009
The Irish have another opportunity to vote to accept the European Union Lisbon Treaty.
They got it wrong last time. They dared to vote NO.
Can you image for one moment that they would be having a second chance to vote today if they had said YES the first time?
This is not democracy in action.
This is politicians manipulating the electoral system until they get the result that they want!
New Labour did not even give the UK a chance to vote. They said that they would but reneged on that promise.
The Conservatives said that we can have a vote. But they linked it to the result of the Irish vote. I don’t know why the link is there.
If the Irish say NO then the treaty is finished (at least for the next 12 months!).
If the Irish say YES then the UK must have a chance to vote for itself. I do not want to be bound by the votes of Irish people. That is NOT democracy.
The fact that Tony Blair the war monger could be the next EU president makes it even more important that the UK has a chance to vote for themselves.
David Cameron – guarantee an election victory. Give the UK a chance to vote and accept their choice for the next 10 years at least!
